Poster Design
This project presents a set of three occupational safety posters based on Hong Kong safety promotion materials. Combining official information design with a modern visual language, the series uses safety colours, simplified imagery, standardised icons, and modular grids to communicate hazard awareness, PPE use, and workplace tidiness clearly.

Background
This project is based on the study of occupational safety promotional posters in Hong Kong. It reconsiders how “official information design” can maintain authority and clarity while incorporating a more contemporary visual language. The design uses safety colours, bilingual headings, standardised icons, and a modular grid system to create a set of three occupational safety posters.
Each poster focuses on a different aspect of workplace safety: hazard identification, personal protective equipment, and workplace tidiness. The aim is to transform complex safety information into quick, readable action prompts. The overall visual style sits between government notices and contemporary information design, with the goal of improving the readability, credibility, and everyday visibility of safety messages.
Design Problem
Common issues found in traditional occupational safety posters include:
An excessive amount of information, making it difficult for readers to quickly identify the key message
Outdated visual styles that are easily ignored
A lack of immediate instructional impact due to the separation of images and text
An official tone that feels trustworthy, but may not effectively engage younger workers or students
Design Positioning
The design direction combines an official visual language with a more modern approach. It incorporates a strong sense of occupational safety while improving readability and visual accessibility.
Conclusion
Based on official occupational safety information, this project uses modernised visual improvements, simplified imagery, and safety colour systems to transform workplace safety from a passive reminder into an active and visible everyday habit.
